MARANGU ROUTE

Tanzania Mount Trekking

Price Per Person

Overview

The 5-day Marangu Route is one of the shortest and most direct trails to summit Mount Kilimanjaro. Often called the “Coca-Cola Route,” it provides comfortable sleeping huts along the way, offering a more sheltered experience compared to camping. Trekkers journey through lush rainforests, alpine meadows, and rocky terrain, culminating in the summit push to Uhuru Peak.

The shorter duration requires a faster pace and less time for acclimatization, making it suitable for experienced trekkers with good fitness levels. With knowledgeable guides and support staff, climbers can embark on a challenging yet rewarding adventure to the roof of Africa.

Very early in the morning, commence the climb to the summit on the steep and heavy snow up to Gilman’s point located on the crater rim, and then we will ascend to Uhuru Peak, which is the highest point in Africa. There are unbelievable views at every turn. Have your picture taken at the summit to show your friends and family. From here we descend, stopping for lunch and a rest at Kibo before continuing on the Horombo encampment.

The begging of this climb is done in the dark and requires headlamps or flashlights. It will be very cold until you start descending, so you will need all of your warm layers. This is by far the most difficult part of the trek with many switchbacks.
